Artcoop Exhibition 11-22 April

Event Date: 11 April 2016

Reigate School of Art, at East Surrey College, is hosting an exhibition of Artcoop, an exciting visual collaboration of contemporary artists and photographers. This show contains art that addresses a broad spectrum of themes and current issues, and includes competition winning and internationally exhibited artwork. The show will incorporate: photojournalism, wildlife, experimental landscape and portrait photography; painting and silver jewellery inspired by nature; and abstraction that explores geometry, light, colour and architecture. The exhibition will also feature painting and drawing of figurative and local subjects.

Artcoop will include a selection of new works by internationally celebrated and award winning photojournalist Rick Findler, recently returned from Syria. Rick Findler has covered conflict around the world for the last six years including the Libyan civil war, the Syrian conflict, Somalia, Burundi and most recently the battle against ISIS in Northern Iraq. Rick has covered news events such as London Fashion Week, The General Election and Julian Assange.

In addition, celebrity and TV photographer Ray Burmiston who shoots for most of the major TV channels and lots of magazines and is the official photographer of Strictly Come Dancing and Dr Who will be showing a selection of his ‘Jokerface’ portraits, which include the likes of Michael McIntyre, Harry Hill, Jenny Eclair, Stephen Fry and Ricky Gervais. Over the last 10 years Ray has had a close relationship with Comic Relief, working with them on their celebrity portrait shoots for Make Poverty History, Red Nose Day and Sports Relief as well as documenting many appeal trips to Africa.

Other exhibitors include; Alannah Hawker, photographer of British wildlife in its natural setting, and winner of the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year,

Royal Academy Summer Show and Discerning Eye exhibitors, Karen Williams and David Tinn will be exhibiting carefully crafted, printed and drawn abstractions,

The spirited, vibrant, large-scale floral paintings of Helen Vanpercy, contrast the quiet painterly delicacy of the drawings and paintings of Jonathan Brown and Avril Sharp,

Paul Saunders gives us a soft, monochromatic stillness and mindful space in his large-scale panoramic photographs, whilst Kathy Adams searches for the same essence of beauty through her strongly coloured and carefully constructed painterly abstraction,

Amanda Papadopoulos produces bold, timeless, eye-catching silver jewellery that uses raised and hammered textures to maximise light and reflection. Whilst Hilary Atkinson and Melanie Lewisinvestigate the ideas in the world around them through their creative exploration of print, embroidery, colour and surface amongst others.
