Two of the College's Engineering Level 3 Apprentices have been awarded the prestigious Engineering Horizons Bursary by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The Bursary is awarded to Apprentices who have faced challenges and personal obstacles and supports them financially, as well as providing free IET membership and guidance.
James Tandy and Liberty Frankland (both pictured above), are on the 4-year Engineering Apprenticeship programme at Gatwick Airport, working towards an HNC qualification on completion of the scheme. They were delighted to receive their Bursary awards at the IET Awards Event at the end of February this year.
The IET Scholarship & Bursary Awards event involved the awards ceremony, as well as networking events and workshops. Attendees heard from members of the IET, who gave an introduction to the Institution spoke about their work.
Both Apprentices have been actively promoting STEM in the community, such as at Big Bang Events, and Liberty commented:
"I love getting involved in events - there's so much going on and I enjoy sharing ideas with others and hearing about their interests!"
Congratulations James and Liberty!
