National Apprenticeship Week - Day 4
08/03/2018
Date: 09 March 2018
To celebrate the end of National Apprenticeship Week 2018 we were excited to welcome Cavendish Care, Marco Gatwick, YMCA and Monochrome to the College to talk all things Apprenticeship.
The day started with introductions from Sharl Ramdass (HR Manager) and a presentation from Chris Baldwin (Learning and Development Manager) at Cavendish Care who spoke to our Health and Social Care students about the balance of assessments and training at Cavendish as an Apprentice, and the development opportunities available within their organisation. Sharl, who started off as an Apprentice shared with us:
“There’s no job I’d rather be in, ” and Chris gave great advice to anyone considering an Apprenticeship, which included:
“You need to showcase your personality and commitment. Showcase why you want to work here, and do you research”
We were then joined by Marco Gatwick came in to speak to us all about the training they provide Apprentices. We also had the chance to catch up with our student Joanne who is currently undertaking her Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship with Marco Gatwick.
Steph Bent, Volunteer Coordinator at YMCA delivered a fantastic talk to Level 1 and 2 Sport, Level 1 Public Services and Level 2 Health and Social Care students about the voluntary opportunities available at YMCA East Surrey, from after-school clubs to play schemes for children.
Our final guest of the week was Adrian from Monochrome Ltd, who brought along a Virtual Reality headset to show Creative Media students. This involved an interactive session all through digital glasses!
We would like to say a big thank you for everyone who came in this week to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week!
