McDonald's in Earlswood recently donated 80 takeaway cups and lids to our Life Skills – Skills students, which enabled them to make their Carrot and Sweet Potato soup recipe. This is one of many healthy recipes that the Life Skills students have prepared during their time in the kitchen. During lockdown, the College have been able to provide lessons in the College that comply with the current government guidelines for the lockdown restrictions. Those who are remote learning have also been able to take part at home via their Microsoft Teams group.
The aim of the cooking tasks is to encourage the students to follow recipes and therefore understand instructions and work independently. Tutor of the Life Skills cooking class, Nicola Hoad, says:
“I am so proud of all the students; I see their progression week on week. I judge their progression on how confident they become with their own sense of ‘I can do this’. I look forward to seeing them all. I was so excited to see them all back for face to face lessons. They have returned with great positivity and enthusiasm.”
We would like to send a massive thank you to McDonald's Earlswood for kindly donating to our students! You can find more information on our Life Skills courses here.
