The Hair and Make-up Level 3 End of Year Show
19/05/2022
Date: 23 May 2022
Our Careers Team has once again drawn on its wealth of contacts and experience for the return of our well-renowned Careers & Jobs Fair on Monday 23 May – our first in-person careers event since before the covid-19 pandemic began.
With access to a wide range of employers, charities, and universities, students and members of the public were able to discover a host of career, volunteering, work experience, and progression opportunities including Apprenticeships, T-Levels, and Higher Education.
Before the event, students were encouraged to bring along their CVs and given specific time slots throughout the day to allow different departments the chance to meet as many exhibitors as possible.
Kaffe, student recruitment representative from the University of Chichester commented:
“The event was well organised and students showed real interest? It has been a great opportunity for students to find out more about what we offer, and to start the conversation of what’s next after college.”
LEAP Course student, Drummond added:
“There are so many different businesses and universities and it’s been a really fun day. I especially enjoyed the off-to-work activity as I did it first try!”
Throughout the event, we had more than 500 attendees speak with over 35 employers from different industries, including Business, IT & Customer Service, Construction & Engineering, Caring services and Education, Hair & Beauty, and Hospitality. Employers showcased opportunities with the use of presentations, interactive activities, and fun games! Alongside this, East Surrey College was also promoting their Full-time, Part-time, and Higher Education courses, as well as job vacancies within the college, which can be found here.
Marilyn Munns, Careers Lead Coordinator commented on the event:
“It’s been wonderful speaking with employers and hearing about the enthusiasm from our students learning about their next steps. We’re looking forward to hosting more events in the future and further cementing and promoting job opportunities for our students and members of the wider community.”
Mo, Student Union Vice President added:
“Whilst speaking with students from around the college, they have all really enjoyed speaking with industry experts and some of them have even applied for part-time work!”
Maryann, Merstham Community Centre Manager added:
“This has been a great opportunity to speak with students about volunteering opportunities, it allows them to build their portfolios and gain a sense of helping the wider community."
A big thank you to all exhibitors for giving up their time to attend our Careers & Jobs Fair and speak with our students and members of the public.
