Careers and Jobs Fair inspires students on future pathways

Our Careers Team has once again drawn on its wealth of contacts and experience for the return of our popular Careers & Jobs Fair on Thursday 11 May.

Students from across the College were given specific time slots throughout the day to allow different departments the opportunity to meet as many exhibitors as possible.

They had the chance to talk to a wide range of employers and representatives from universities and charities to discover an array of career, volunteering and progression opportunities, including apprenticeships and higher education.

Attendees were also encouraged to bring along their cvs for advice and feedback from our Careers team.

Charlotte, Early Careers & Talent Project Manager from Surrey County Council, commented: "It was great meeting students who are engaged in thinking about their next steps; they were particularly interested in our 'spin the wheel' game where they had to answer questions all about Surrey County Council!" 

Jay, Head of HR from The Orpheus Centre added: "It's been a lovely afternoon speaking with students and we can't wait to be invited again next year."

The universities stands also got a lot of interest. Connor, an Engineering L2 student commented: "The Careers and Jobs Fair has been such a useful event - I've been able to speak to several universities about how I can get into the course I want to do which is Musical Theatre." 

Anna Taylor, Senior Careers & Industry Placement Lead at East Surrey College, said: “Today's event was a huge success! We had a steady flow of students throughout the event who were very engaged and approached our exhibitors without being prompted by their tutor or the careers team."

“Several employers were impressed with how polite and engaging the students were. They also commented on how well the fair was organised and that they would be keen to attend future events.”
