Students from East Surrey College and John Ruskin College brought the holiday spirit in a Christmas card design competition, led by Art Lecturer Curtis Tappenden. Over two weeks, students worked diligently to create their own original Christmas-themed designs, showcasing their artistic talents.
The winning designs were selected by Lindsay Pamphilon, Group CEO and Principal, and the winners were Summer from ESC and Harmony from JRC. Pictures of their card designs can be found below.
Their designs were turned into a gif and proudly shared with external communications including, local headteachers, MPs, local community leaders, Council contacts and local employers.
Summer from ESC said: “The competition was great fun. It gave us the creative freedom to create anything related to Christmas. I’ve always been fascinated with birds, so I incorporated a robin in my design.”
Harmony from JRC added:
“I initially started with lots of designs before landing on the final product, when I heard the results, I was honestly shocked, but also really grateful. The competition has helped me learn what it’s like working with a live brief and having to stick to a deadline, I just had a lot of fun!”
Lindsay Pamphilon praised the students, saying:
“A big congratulations to both our winners and well done to all who participated, and thank you to Curtis for organising the internal competition. We are truly excited to share these wonderful designs with our wider community wishing them a happy Christmas and wonderful New Year.”
