ESOL Students take a trip to the British Museum

ESOL Students take a trip to the British Museum

Date: 19 December 2024

Before the Winter Break, students studying our ESOL Entry Level 1 course visited the British Museum in London to learn about human history, art and culture.

Some students voiced they had never been to the British Museum before and were excited to use the underground and train system.

As part of their course, students are actively learning about social interaction through speech and body language. During the trip students were encouraged to use London transport, asking guides for direction and information, and ordering food and drink at a café.

Interactions like this help students with practising what they’ve been learning since the beginning of the year. This includes fluency, vocabulary expansion, pronunciation improvement and gaining confidence when speaking informally.

Students were also really impressed by the museum’s exhibitions and especially what related to the history of their countries.

Mayada Jawad, ESOL Lecturer commented: “The trip to the British Museum was such a joyful experience and for most students this was their first time. I’m so impressed with their eagerness to learn and to practice their skills – this trip will be a long-lasted memory for us all!”
