Five Aviation, Travel & Tourism students were invited on an exciting trip to Gatwick Airport, when they were given invites at last term's End of Year Awards..
On Monday 21 October, the visit began with an introduction into the range of jobs at the Airport. The students were then split into two small groups and taken on a tour, which involved a walk through baggage handling, giving an insight into the security processes and systems. The students were then taken around one of the Airport's lounges, and shown the facilities and learnt about the different careers available.
The final part of the day involved a trip out on the airfield. The lucky students were treated to a drive out onto the tarmac, where they drove by planes taking off! The students also observed the departure of an Emirates plane, and were able to learn about all the key boarding process.
We chatted to one of the students on the visit, Adam, currently on Year 2 of Travel & Tourism Level 3, who shared:
"It really helped my course, being able to see all the different layers of security. There was also so much to see on the airfield, and so many jobs to think about!"
