Students at the Reigate School of Art are working hard on a project for Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew to produce willow and tissue paper lanterns for their Glow Wild Winter Lantern Festival at Wakehurst Place.
Art students, from Level 1 – 3, took part in a workshop run by Same Sky, a local community arts organisation. Their brief involved creating artwork around this year’s theme, the “resilience of trees.” By combining willow sticks and coloured tissue paper, the students created beautiful large-scale Christmas ornaments that will decorate walkways at Wakehurst.
Students on Creative Media courses also got involved, taking photos for their own portfolios. This exciting project counted as employer engagement for all students involved, which is a vital part of their Full-time courses at the College.
The students’ creations can be admired on the Glow Wild trail, at Kew Wakehurst from 21 November – 22 December 2019.
See the students' creations on display at Wakehurst!
