HE Fair: Helping students with their next steps

After being proudly titled Orbital South Colleges University Centre, we recently hosted our first-ever Higher Education Fair. The HE Fair was held on Wednesday 16 November 2022 at East Surrey College.

The fair was a great way for prospective and current students and members of the public to explore their options, find out more about our HE courses and seek financial advice to support their choices.

Our course offering is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to take their careers to the next level. Students were able to speak with tutors from a range of subjects including Art, Design & Media, Construction, Engineering and more!

During the event, attendees were able to listen in on a variety of information talks; this included understanding the UCAs process, a guide to student finance and higher and degree apprenticeships.

One student commented on the UCAs talk: “I didn’t realise the UCAs deadline was so close, it was really helpful to hear about the process and how I need to spend time on putting together a strong personal statement.”

For those interested in Sports & Public Services and Business & IT, students could attend subject talks to find out more about progression routes.

Painting and Decorating Level 1 student Shantoya added, “I hadn’t really given much thought about Higher Education courses, but it was encouraging to hear from the careers team that it’s never too soon to think about your next steps.”

We’ve recently launched our new Higher Education Guide for 2023/24 comprising an extended range of University Level courses, Professional Qualifications and Higher & Degree Apprenticeships.
