HNC Construction & The Built Environment students presented their projects in front of a panel of experts, as part of their assessment.
The event began with an introduction from George Beach, Lecturer, who gave an overview of the benefits of employer engagement with the College, sharing:
“It has a key role in enhancing teaching and learning and provides opportunities to promote work-relevant curriculum content, such as these projects.”
Nine students, comprising of 5 Full-time and 4 Part-time, had carried out extensive research on topics under the heading ‘Emerging Technologies in Construction,’ using examples from their workplace and knowledge gained on the HNC course.
The presentations spanned a variety of topics, including Structurally Insulated Panels, The Use of Drones in Construction, and Virtual and Augmented Reality in Construction.
Representatives visited from companies including Marco Airport Facilities Gatwick, CECA Southern, John Sisk & Son, Buxton Building Contractors Ltd and Prater. The employers assessed the presentations, asked questions and gave the students feedback on their research and delivery.
