30/11/2016
Date: 29 November 2016
Students were privileged to hear from Holocaust survivor Marcel Ladenheim on Friday 26 November 2016. Marcel visited the College to share his testimony as a survivor of the Holocaust.
Marcel stated at the beginning of his talk that he "represented the 11,400 French Jewish children who were murdered during World War 2". He added that the only reason he could be with us today to share his story was that two non-Jewish ladies hid him away when the German army were searching for Jews in Nazi-occupied Paris.
After the talk, Student Union President Georgia Crabb O'Toole said,
"I found the talk by Marcel Ladenheim a very moving and inspirational story that has definitely changed my outlook and perspective on life itself. As a young person to be able to understand and know his story as a survivor is very interesting, especially as in this day and age we would find it difficult to put ourselves into that situation.
Young people need to forward the story of the Holocaust and Marcel's story to others because it will change people's perspective on life. Marcel is a role model for many young people who have yet to learn about the hardship of the Holocaust."
