Fun-filled Week for Sport Relief
07/04/2016
Date: 06 April 2016
Public Services students had the opportunity to get outdoors and try out some physical challenges with the Royal Marines at the Browndown Camp in Portsmouth. The students were given an introductory presentation by the Marines before getting stuck into a range of physical activities. They completed activities on their own as well as some challenges as a team.
Students had to face their fears with one student overcoming her fear of heights while clinging to a vertical rock wall! Other activities included laser shooting, running, chin-ups and in true military style some were given the unenviable task of doing push-ups over a muddy puddle.
Student Beth Harris (pictured on the rock climbing wall) commented:
“During the day there were many times I felt like giving up but with the courage and motivation of my group and the Royal Marines I didn’t”
The day gave the Public Services students the chance to get a taste of what joining the Armed Forces entailed as well as being a great character and team-building opportunity too!
