National Careers Week 2024 Round Up

From the 4 March to the 8 March 2024 at Orbital South Colleges we celebrated National Careers Week 2024. The week was focused on providing inspiration and guidance to help our students with those next progression steps. 

Our Careers team put on a show with a packed timetable of workshops and talks from our employer and education partners. Students had the pleasure of learning and engaging with some of our fantastic employer partners such as Lowrey, Royal Air Force, NHS (both Nursing & Pharmacy), Family Club and Pfizer. These employer talks provided lots of inspiration to our students and valuable networking opportunities. Students were able to learn about the employment and educational progression opportunities within these companies and their industry. 

There was also a fantastic series of workshops from our education partners. Enrichment Partnership came along and spoke about entrepreneurial and social media skills for business and LinkedIn. The A.L.P.S Partnership delved into Apprenticeships with a great presentation. The University for the Creative (UCA) visited our Games Design students to provide insight into the skills that students can progress onto studying. 

We also invited Bruce Speechley a highly experienced consultant and C-suite advisor who has been in the College this week providing an insight into his successful, expansive career at IBM in the USA for our students in Computing and Business, whilst also mentoring our students providing tips in how to better prepare themselves for the workplace. 

We’ve had an incredible week full of learning and insight and it doesn’t have to stop there. Our Careers Hub is always available to find support and resources to continue to grow the foundations of an excellent career.
