A Visit to Camomile Courtyard
01/03/2019
Date: 03 March 2019
National Apprenticeship Week is in full swing at East Surrey College, and our students are feeling inspired and excited about the opportunities available to them!
We started the day with a visit from First Community Health & Care, as Alison, Practice Development Facilitator, and Amber, a Business Apprentice, gave some background on the company and the community support services they offer.
Amber, a former ESC student, shared with our Business and Accounting students the reasons she chose an Apprenticeship, telling them "it gives me opportunities I wouldn't get in the classroom. I have a lot of responsibility and my confidence has grown!"
Health & Social Care Level 1 and 3 students heard from staff at Ashcroft Care, who offer Apprenticeships and work experience, and the students learnt about how rewarding a career in care can be. They were followed by Sam and Shaun from Johnston Sweepers Ltd., road sweeper manufacturers, who spoke to our Engineering students about the importance of how young people's skills are the future for manufacturing industries!
NAW Day 1 drew to a close with a visit from Brian from Fidelity IT, a privately owned global investment company. He offered valuable careers advice to Business and IT students, reminding them that "Apprenticeships offer excellent progression opportunities."
Thank you to all of today's visitors, we're excited to see what tomorrow has in store!
