National Apprenticeship Week Day 2
04/03/2019
Date: 05 March 2019
It was another day packed full of activity at East Surrey College, for National Apprenticeship Week Day 3!
Our first visitors of the day were Charley Latimer and Natalie Warner from Kier Group, who spoke to our Business and Construction students. Charley, a former HNC Construction student at ESC, shared her journey to becoming Design Manager at Kier, and the students were excited to hear about new technologies in the industry, which included virtual reality and robot bricklayers!
We then welcomed Tim Parker from T & B Contractors, who shared examples of their projects across various sectors, and spoke about the work experience and Apprenticeship opportunities they offer:
“Apprenticeships are so important! It’s vital to develop individuals and we are committed to our social responsibility as a business. The schemes help keep our role in the industry diverse and developing.”
Business students then enjoyed a talk from Keith Eddowes and Chantelle Thorpe, from Plan Insurance Brokers. Keith gave the students an overview of their Foundation Scheme, and ex-ESC student Chantelle shared her Apprenticeship experience!
"I wanted more qualifications after College and the Foundation Scheme was a great option for me. It made sense to work in different areas of the company over a short period of time."
In the afternoon, Childcare students heard from Helen Atkin at Kiddi Caru Day Nurseries Group who shared the benefits of their Apprenticeship programme!
Thank you to all of Day 3's visitors!
