Reaching New Heights

Students studying towards Public Services Level 3 have been overcoming new obstacles at White Spider Climbing Centre.

They're taking part in a three-week qualification course with the National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes (NICAS) programme, which covers the basics of safe climbing on indoor structures. 

As part of the scheme, the students have learnt how to belay - control the rope attached to the climber on the wall and lower them - as well as get to grips with rope-work and the equipment needed. The course will also help them to develop key life skills such as communication, perseverance and strength. 

This is just one of the many exciting activities our Public Services students take part in!
