Raising Aspirations Week - Day 4
10/10/2019
Date: 11 October 2019
Raising Aspirations Week has come to it's final day, but we still had plenty going on around the College!
In one of our Hair & Beauty salons, Helen Reeves, Independent Consultant with Neal's Yard Remedies, led a workshop with Beauty Therapy Level 3 students. After introducing the company and her career, Helen demonstrated hand massage techniques, talking through the products used. In recognition of World Mental Health Day, which took place on Thursday 10 October, she also led a relaxing breathing exercise to de-stress.
She commented: "You have a super group of beauty therapy students and I had great fun sharing my knowledge with them!"
Meanwhile, Business and IT students heard from Keith Jowitt, who shared stories of his interesting and varied career in IT, and gave an insight into how the use of IT has developed since the 1980s.
Throughout the day, we were also lucky to host Irish music duo Hawke, who gave performances to students from a range of curriculum areas, and also spoke to them about various important issues. They acknowledged World Mental Health Day, speaking to students about various mental health issues and how to support others, and also spoke about the importance of staying safe online.
It has been a fantastic week at College, and we would like to thank all our employers for coming in!
