Results days for 2021

This year, because of the cancellation of external exams for Level 2 and Level 3 BTECs, GCSEs and Level 3 Technical courses, alongside a decision made by Ofqual/Department for Education to categorise other specific vocational courses as B1 qualifications (being similar to GCSEs and A Levels) and requiring a different grading system, results for these courses were graded using QTAGs (Qualification Teacher Assessed Grades).

These grades were based on actual evidence generated by students during the year (such as mock exams/practice papers in place of live exams) and are not to be confused with predicted grades.

The official release dates for results for these courses are:

  • Tuesday 10 August 2021 (after 08:30) for Level 3 BTECs, Level 3 (B1) Vocational and Technical qualifications
  • Thursday 12 August 2021 (after 08:30) for Level 2 BTECs, Level 2 (B1) Vocational qualifications, GCSE English and Maths and Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2

There are no specific results dates for Entry Level, Level 1, Level 4 and Level 5 courses nor any other Level 2 and Level 3 courses (classed as B2 courses; such as NVQs) where assessment has continued as normal (practical assessments/online exams/coursework).

Results for these programmes will be notified to students as and when they are received from the various Awarding Bodies.

Notification of results

The Exams Team will email students their overall grades to their College email addresses on the official results dates:

  • We will not email personal email addresses nor issue results over the telephone
  • Results will only be issued to the student concerned and not to third parties
  • Please do not come into College to collect results

Certificates

Certificates will not be available on results days.

These will be arriving from the Awarding Bodies during August and September, with GCSE certificates arriving late October.

We will notify students when they are available for collection.

Results Embargo

Please note we cannot discuss results with anyone until they are officially released by the Awarding Bodies.

Appeals Process

Upon receipt of your results for Summer 2021, if you believe there has been a serious error in the calculation of your grade, you have the right of appeal.

Please read the attached Appeals information leaflets:

There is a 2 stage process and all appeals must be made via the College irrespective of whether it is a Stage 1 or Stage 2 appeal.

You cannot appeal just because you don’t like the grade issued, there must be a genuine reason why you are disagreeing with the grade and your application must be supported by evidence.

Stage 1 : Centre Review

Appeal should be made directly to the College to the Director of Learning or Head of Department in which your course was run (details at the end of this notice).
Stage 1 Form

Stage 2 : Appeal to Awarding Body

Should you not be satisfied with the outcome of the Centre Review, then an appeal to the Awarding Body can be made (this must be made via the College by the same contact as for Stage 1 appeals).
Stage 2 Form

In the unlikely event that your appeal has not been resolved by the Awarding Body there is a 3rd and final stage of appeal to Ofqual.

Details will be only be provided in the event of a disagreement with one of the Awarding Bodies.

Please note the deadlines on the information sheets as any requests received after these dates will not be processed by the College nor the Awarding Bodies.

In the first instance any genuine Stage 1 appeal applications should be sent to the Director or Head of the relevant curriculum department where you studied and copied to rtaylor@esc.ac.uk
