A Celebration of Women
In recognition of International Women’s Day last week, Art & Design students had work featured at a Celebration of Women event in Redhill!
The event, hosted by East Surrey Domestic Abuse Services (ESDAS), was held at The Harlequin Theatre and featured inspirational speakers, performances and art exhibitions, including our students' work.
The Level 2 students had been working on a live project, entitled ‘A History of Heroes,’ with a brief of creating book cover designs aimed at a non-fiction 6-10 year old market, using a variety of notable women from history for them to research. They compiled information from their research, visits to the National Portrait Gallery and MinaLima design studio in London, as well as input from local book editor Katie Woolley to come up with their creative designs!
8 covers were selected by Katie as the strongest, which were on display at the event. Katie also worked with a graphic designer to then chose a winner and runner-up.
Congratulations to Heather, who was chosen as the winner, and Priaysha, selected as runner up. Our Head of Department for Art, Design & Media, also selected a design by student Nina as a top choice.
Well done to all students for your excellent designs!
