Surrey Festival of Skills 2024: Inspiring thousands on their next steps!

Surrey Festival of Skills 2024: Inspiring thousands on their next steps!

Date: 15 October 2024

We had a brilliant time attending the Surrey Festival of Skills 2024!

Hosted at the University of Surrey, in collaboration between Surrey County Council and the Association of Learning Providers in Surrey (ALPS).

The event brought together over 2000 students aged 14-18, eager to explore the wide range of learning and career opportunities available in Surrey, and we were thrilled to be part of this inspiring day.

At East Surrey College, we are committed to providing young people with a whole range of skills and experiences to prepare them for their next steps, and to help them reach success in the future. Throughout the day we had the pleasure speaking with many young people about their options whether it was to continue studying, find an apprenticeship or look for employment.

We had a selection of fun activities to encourage students to take part in conversation, these included: Hybrid car simulator, hair and beauty blocks, baby changing scenario, sports activities, plumbing puzzle and a 3D printer.

Richard Brooks, Business Development & Projects Manager, commented: “It was encouraging to see so many students interested in learning about their options for the future. There is so much available with full-time courses, part-time courses, apprenticeships and higher education. As a College, we pride ourselves on being innovative and inclusive, giving opportunities to young people and the wider local community.”

If you attended the Surrey Festival of Skills and would like to visit the College in all its glory – come visit us in November for our Open Evening.
