Between January 2018 and January 2019, East Surrey College participated in a project led by the University of Chichester and other partners to create an educational provision in the identified priority growth area of Health and Social Care. Part of this project involved a recent visit to the brand new Technology Park at the University, giving students and staff a chance to discover new technological advances in the sector.
Students from Business, IT, Engineering and Applied Science visited the University's Bognor Regis campus, which was an opportunity to build relationships with our validating university and to consider progression to university. The departments of Engineering & Design and Creative & Digital Technologies are home to 3D printers, engineering workshops and film editing suites.
The students met the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) team at Chichester University's Bognor Regis campus and were shown around the new building at the Tech Park. The students then also completed some teamwork activities, such as building a container from paper and using a leaf blower to get plastic balls shot into it!
Johanna Koehler, a lecturer at ESC, commented:
"It was really good to see to get different students from different groups working together, having some fun. The STEM member leading this activity was excellent."
The students are excited about the futures of their careers and the progression opportunities available to them!
