Engineering Apprentices have been working hard for the Motor vehicle department, putting their welding skills into practice.
The Apprentices have fabricated racking for tool storage, benefitting both students and staff. They have also welded a roll cage for the motorsport car, which is being designed and fitted by the BTEC Motorsport students.
George Keith, Programme Manager Engineering and Motor Vehicle, commented:
“Being able to undertake real-life exercises like this creates a fantastic opportunity for the Apprentices. They have worked hard, alongside their tutor, Peter Davidson, gaining industrial skills in preparation for future career prospects.”
Pictured above are Mohammed and Sahil, Entry Level students studying Introduction to Vehicle Technology. Below is Carl, Metal Fabricator Level 3 Apprentice, with roll cage parts he created, and Bill Darnbrook, Motor Vehicle Skills Practitioner and Peter Davidson, Welding Lecturer.
