Beauty Therapy Level 3 - Jamie

Aspiring Beauty Therapist Jamie joined East Surrey College on Beauty Therapy Level 1, and progressed up through Level 2 to Level 3. She now has a part-time job at Lifeline Beauty Salon in Redhill, and shared her experience of the course at College: 

“Level 1 was a good starting point as we covered basic treatments, Level 2 was harder as there are more things you’re assessed on. I find Level 3 easier than Level 2! There’s less assessment and we learn so much.”

Her sister had also studied a Beauty Course at a different College, and Jamie was interested in applying after hearing how much her sister had enjoyed it. Now on Level 3, Jamie particularly enjoys facials, especially electrical treatments such as toning and stimulation. She commented: 

“It’s interesting to see all the different effects they have on muscles – we cover a lot of anatomy and physiology”

On the course, Jamie finds the teaching "really good - there is so much support and knowledge and they make things easy to understand."

Jamie secured her part-time job, after commencing a work placement at the salon on Level 2, and was offered a job there. She carries out treatments such as hot stone massage and waxing, and is able to practice the techniques she is learning at College, on clients. 

“Everything I study at College I get to do at work, and more! Having a job helps me both ways, as I can practice at work and College.”

When she finishes Level 3, Jamie has a full-time job in place at the salon but is looking at her options to build on her qualification to Level 4 or 5.
