BTEC Business Diploma Level 3 - Fernando

Former School(s): Oxted School

Fernando joined East Surrey College on the recommendation of several friends who had attended the College. 

He chose this course to build on the knowledge and interest he had developed in the subject whilst studying Business Studies A level at school.

Fernando's favourite aspects of the course were researching and completing assignments for course-work related modules.

"I particularly enjoyed units such as Exploring Business and Market Research as they really allowed me to develop a better understanding into the real world of business and marketing."

Fernando really valued the support he received from his tutors throughout his time at ESC, commenting:

"The teaching went above and beyond my expectations. The support I had from my three lecturers was everything I needed to reach my D* grade and I couldn't have done it without them. They ensure that all of their students reach their full potential."

During his course, Fernando undertook work experience as a key worker in Morrisons and bartender at Limpsfield Tennis club. These were both valuable in providing real-life experience of the world of Business.

After leaving ESC, Fernando took up a place at Oxford Brookes University to study Business and Marketing Management.

He feels the experience he gained at ESC, especially writing assignments, was instrumental in preparing him for the time and effort required to succeed at University.

His advice to future ESC Business students is:

"Ensure that you maintain self-discipline throughout the whole academic year to create your best work and achieve your targets. Also, it is very important to communicate with your lecturers and speak to them about any concerns as they are there to help you." 

On completion of University, Fernando plans to become a Financial Advisor.
