Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship - Katie

Former School(s): de Stafford School

After leaving school, Katie headed to Reigate College to complete A Levels. It was during this time that she realised she had an interest in Business and found the topic "interesting and engaging." After 2 years and Distinctions across the board, Katie started looking at University and different career options. 

She came across the Apprenticeship vacancy at ESC, and after looking at the job description, decided this would be the best route. 

"I would gain a recognised qualification as well as gaining vital experience in the working environment. This appealed to me as ultimately, I’m getting the best of both worlds."

Throughout her 18 month Apprenticeship, Katie was able to work in a variety of different areas, such as HR, Client Services, Curriculum and in a PA role for a member of the Executive Team. 

"I’m really glad I got to experience different departments as it gave me a better understanding of how the College operates and made me realise what areas in the role I enjoyed. It allowed me to meet new people and get a better understanding of the different job roles within the College." 

As an Apprentice, Katie was able to use case studies from the workplace to build up her portfolio and was able to use the training she had experienced at College to gain further experience in her role. 

Katie benefitted from the guidance of an Assessor who was "extremely supportive and made me feel comfortable" and also found she had the "best experience" by gaining support from the employer as well.   

After completing her Apprenticeship, Katie was successful in securing a Full-time Role at the College as a Client Services Advisor and is excited to continue developing her professional experience at the College.
