Engineering - Ben

Ben joined ESC after completing his GCSEs and was drawn to the range of topics within the Engineering sector: 

"Ranging from aeronautics to mechanical systems in cars and the groundbreaking progress that’s being made in regards to electric vehicles."

Coming from a partner school, Ben was already familiar with ESC, and had heard about the College from friends in older years. After deciding between Engineering and Motor Vehicle, he chose the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering course to explore new experiences and skills.

"For me, it has led to many new opportunities. Learning new manufacturing methods and how to operate the necessary machinery to make, design and produce components - I’m so glad I took the Engineering route."

He has found the Level 3 course to be challenging, but "very enjoyable," largely due to the people in his class and his tutor. He commented that they all support each other, "making for a comfortable and fun learning environment."

Whilst on his course, Ben applied for an Engineering Apprenticeship with Thales, and was successful! He is now working towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship qualification in Embedded Electronic Systems Design.
