Engineering & Manufacturing T Level - Robert
Former School(s): Oasis Academy Coulsdon
What led you to choosing this course? If you chose to do a T Level course, why?
I’ve always wanted to work in Formula One, but specifically in the drivers' side of things. As soon as I learned about the mechanics behind the sport, I knew I wanted to try and get a career in this field.
I chose to study the Design & Development for Engineering & Manufacturing (Electrical & Electronic) Level 3 T Level course because I wanted to start work experience early in comparison to a BTEC, which would mean I could get a headstart before College ends.
Why did you decide to study at ESC?
I’d heard good things through family members about ESC in the past, so I attended two Open Events – one to tour the College and the other to decide on a specific course. After visiting, I could see how professional and high-quality the workshops are, which is so important in an Engineering-based course.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
The people and tutors are all really nice and laid-back. The course also covers topics which are interesting and give a good experience for the workplace, my are the design and manufacturing aspects.
Overall, how did you find the teaching/support?
The tutors are always free to listen and help you with whatever you’re stuck on. They also give really good advice and guidance on coursework, which is a big part of T Levels.
Did you take part in any events/trips/competitions/exhibitions or had any speakers visit? If so, what and tell us more!
We’ve had a lot of talks as part of my course, such as Apprenticeship companies and even Gatwick Airport visits for Engineering. Whilst at College I also took part in the recent Remembrance Day ceremony as a member of an Explorers unit.
What are your future plans once you’ve finished your course?
Right now, I’m deciding on which university I want to go to and want to fully focus on my studies. I’m weighing up my options but definitely want to study something in Engineering.
Would you recommend ESC to a future student? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend East Surrey College, because it has some of the best equipment and workshops in Surrey! There are so many courses to choose from and its the perfect place for people who want to study practical subjects.
