IT Level 3 - Tom

Former School(s): Oasis Academy Coulsdon , Reigate College

Tom initially spent a year at another college, working towards A-Levels, before transferring to East Surrey College, where he found that:

“The teaching at ESC was so much better – everything was taught from ground level and the course content was explained really well.”

He joined the IT Level 3 course, as he's "always been a computer person - at home I build systems and maintain them."

Tom also shared how he was certain that university was not the progression route for him, but not long into the Level 3 course, he discovered that "the course has opened my eyes to the education opportunities available."

Whilst on the course, Tom has found that "the facilities and computer systems are great" and he shared his gratitude for the teaching and support, commenting: 

“The teachers explain everything really well and always are available to help. They’re great at giving constructive criticism and feedback – they make sure that you’re working at the best you can!”

Tom's next step is a Computer Science degree at the University of Portsmouth, where he is looking forward to a placement year, to help gain an insight into the professional side of the industry and the careers available.
