The vast majority of today's employees face skill gaps for future green jobs, but with the right training program and learning to fit their current job role, today's workforce can gain an edge in their careers and be future-ready.

East Surrey College is part of the DfE-funded Strategic Development Fund (SDF) project designed to train students in emerging green technologies. Courses have been designed to provide the latest green technology skills to support the upskilling and reskilling of local people.

The project provides training in the following subjects:

Retrofit Skills in Construction
Retrofit courses have been designed to address the skills gap within Surrey and Hampshire and what is needed to decarbonise the UK's housing stock.

Online Retrofitting Courses

Ultra Low Carbon Vehicles (ULCV) Electric Cars
Courses have been designed to help equip the future and existing workforce with the valuable skills they will need as the hybrid and electric vehicle market continues to increase.

Online ULCV Courses

Carbon Literacy
The online courses break down the awareness of Climate Change into bitesize chunks, including carbon costs and the motivation to reduce emissions as an individual, a community and on an organisational basis. 

Online Carbon Literacy Courses

Courses have been designed to:

  • Provide the latest electric vehicle green technology skills to support the upskilling and reskilling of local people.
  • Drive stronger, employer-responsive collaboration to enhance longer term innovation and enterprise.
