About the Course
This Foundation Degree includes the study of such topics as client-side and server-side scripting, and database design and implementation using SQL, all of which contribute to the current extraordinary achievements of the Internet and provide solid foundations for the next major iteration of the Web that is being built upon Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies as well as projects like Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).
We will introduce students to a selection of current Internet and Web Technologies such as Web Server configuration, network forensics and advanced topics in full stack software development, cloud computing and cyber security which form an integral part of the course. This topic integrates well within the project-based approach of the programme that reflects 'real life' problems that students can expect to encounter in the world of work. As with much of the modern coding paradigm, an object-oriented approach will be used fundamentally to develop coding solutions.
This course is designed to support progression into employment or on to a Top-up Degree.
64 or more UCAS points from A-levels or equivalent (e.g. BTEC National Diploma or T-Level), plus GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C). Mature students with a suitable background will also be considered. |
YEAR ONE modules include: Mark-up Languages and Scripting // Server-side Scripting // Web Server Implementation // Network Forensics // Database Design & Implementation // Project Management
YEAR TWO modules include: Group Project // Advanced Web Development Technologies // Object-oriented Framework Techniques // Systems & Commands Line // Advanced Topics in Cloud Computing & Cyber Security
Assessment is undertaken through a range of techniques including assignment work, presentations, short tests, practical tasks, projects, and other modern methodologies.
