Bishop Sport Racing Inspires ESC Students

Motor Vehicle and Motorsport students recently attended an employer talk delivered by Martin Bishop, a qualified freelance motorsport mechanic at Bishop Sport Racing.

He shared his life experiences with our students, explaining how he started in the industry quite late and started his own business after leaving college. He spoke to students about how he did voluntary garage work for 15 years, whilst also having 13 years of experience as a marshal and 11 years as a rescue unit.

Whilst upskilling within the industry, Martin also explained the importance of finishing a college qualification: “I returned to college as a mature student to assist with my upskilling within motorsports.”

Martin also openly spoke out about his personal mental health and how he had to overcome his inner saboteur to thrive within the sector.

“It is really important to get your name out in this kind of industry – just remember having a goal is vital and having the ambition and drive to get there makes the journey feel a lot shorter and more fun!”
