We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As the figurehead of our nation for 75 years and a truly inspirational role model, she will be greatly missed.
There will be several protocols and arrangements taking place nationally in the next few days.
Following guidance from the Department for Education (DfE), we would like to advise that the College will remain open during the national period of mourning.
This may change once the details of the funeral are confirmed by the Royal Household, so we recommend students, parents, carers and staff to visit the College website for the latest updates.
Her Majesty's passing will affect us all in different ways and, as always, we will provide support to our students and staff.
We also want to remind students of our Wellbeing Hub, a resource that we have updated, that you may find helpful during this time.
If you are in need of support, please speak with our Safeguarding Team whose details can be found here.
Sincerely,
East Surrey College

East Surrey College, along with the whole nation, is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. As we start the national period of mourning, we will remember her as a truly remarkable and inspirational lady who led our country with such grace for over 70 years.
To commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s recent Platinum Jubilee, our Public Services students laid a plaque for our newly planted trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
In November 2011, we were fortunate enough to welcome The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to the College where she officially opened our new campus. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh spent nearly three hours touring the facilities and meeting students, staff, many of our key partners and local dignitaries.
Jayne Dickinson, Chief Executive, Orbital South Colleges, said:
“We are truly sorry to hear of The Queen’s passing. Her visit to the College really was an outstanding occasion and so memorable for all of us.
What really stood out for me was how engaged the Queen and Duke were with our students. They showed so much interest in what they were doing and their plans for the future.
The Queen’s enthusiasm, warmth and interest will always be fondly remembered by me, our students and staff who were there on the day.”
We offer our sincere condolences to the members of the Royal Family at this time.
There is a national online book of condolence on the Royal Family website for anyone wishing to leave a tribute.
