In the last few months, we have been fortunate to have community engagement with The Surrey Police Safer Neighbourhood team which has included educational talks, rounds of table tennis and casual conversations between officers and students.
Through these activities, we are building on our positive relationships with the police, creating awareness and de-mystifying some stereotypes.
During their lunch break students were able to interact with the Neighbourhood officers by discussing topics such as college courses and the different roles officers’ play.

The police were also able to have discussions with our students about the wide range of careers in the police and the different pathways to them.
As part of the activities, searches were also carried out serving as a preventative measure and a chance for the police to provide further education.
Our Student Union Vice-President Sadie said, “The process was quick and simple plus it’s all for a good cause”.
PC Tim Brooks commented: “It was nice to see the students at ESC as we always want to work closely with our local community and this is a great opportunity to do so. It was also interesting hearing about all the different subjects the students are studying.”
