COVID-19 Update
16/03/2022
Date: 21 January 2022
Since November 2021, staff and students at East Surrey College have worked alongside the Centre for Excellence in Maths network and MEI cluster to take part in the MEI Further Education Maths Challenge. The challenge is aimed at helping to raise the aspirations and achievement of 16-19-year-old Functional Skills and GCSE Maths resit students, and to develop positive mind-sets around their mathematics learning. Students compete against peers at their level of maths, so that everyone is given the opportunity to succeed. The challenge is broken into three rounds and students can be entered through three categories: Funkies, Eins2steins and Go Forth.
We celebrated the successes of both our Round 1 Winners as well as all participants during the first round in December with Certificates, prizes and Causes for Celebrations. Students worked in pairs to complete a Kahoot Quiz and win prizes for their departments within an inter-departmental competition. For Round 2, our Round 1 Winners will compete for First place in the East Surrey College Final in February.
Round 1: Department Winners
As part of the inter-departmental competition at the end of last term the leaderboard showed:

4th Place: Engineering & Motor Vehicle - 313,592 points

Some departments had fewer points due to having smaller class sizes, however, everyone should be really proud of themselves!
