Yesterday East Surrey College hosted the FE Surrey Creative Digital Finals.
With a focus on AI for positive change, the Creative Digital students competed for the final time in front of a panel of prestigious judges, including Bruce Speechly, Digital Transformation in IBM, Billy Smith, Principal Consultant at Billy Smith Ltd, Michael Vodden, Roto/Prep Lead at Union VFX and Peter Gordon, Business Owner at PG Media.
Over the last few months the students from East Surrey College have competed in three rounds across Brooklands College, Nescot College and Farnham College (Activate) before the finals.
The event kicked off with a small opening speech from Bruce Speechly, running through the plan for the day and the judging points for the presentation. Followed by Learning Director, Jo Finnick, who prepared the students with a motivational speech, to get them ready for their final presentation.
Level 2 students from Nescot, East Surrey College and Brooklands competed first, followed by Level 3 students from Brooklands, East Surrey College and Activate. Presenting on an AI development they have created and put in place based on a chosen area to support positive change in the future.
Then the judges went away to deliberate the results and discuss the fantastic and innovative ideas the students had come up with to create positive change with AI.
Congratulations to the winners from L2 at Nescot College and L3 students from East Surrey College but also well done to all students who took part to show off the real impact of AI.
The event concluded with a closing speech from Lindsay Pamphilon, Principal at Orbital South Colleges, acknowledging their hard work and concluding this partnership competition for 2024.
